Newfoundland and Labrador Skilled Worker Program
The Newfoundland and Labrador Skilled Worker Program allows NLPNP to nominate highly-skilled foreign nationals who wish to immigrate to Newfoundland and Labrador in order to strengthen the economy and fill any voids the labour force that can’t be filled by available Canadians or permanent residents.
In order to qualify for the Newfoundland and Labrador Skilled Worker Program, you must:
- have a full-time, permanent offer of employment in a position with regional wages and benefits, with a qualified Newfoundland and Labrador employer
- have an IRCC issued Work Permit, or be eligible for one, that has at least 6 months left on it before it expires
- have secured a position that will not result in employment disputes or contravene provincial bargaining unit agreements that has opportunities for advancement
- ensure that your employer can verify that they require an employee with your training and skill set and that your employer also meets the requirements of the program
- have the training, qualifications, skill set and required accreditation required to fill the position, including a post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate equivalent to Canadian standards for the same position
- prove you plan, and are able to, settle in Newfoundland and Labrador on a permanent basis
- verify that the level of your language skills, is adequate enough to perform your NOC 0 or A level occupation, at Canadian Language Benchmark level 7, in English or French, by submitting an Affidavit stating so from your Newfoundland and Labrador employer, or by providing documents from a CIC approved Educational Credential Assessment institution
- show documentation that proves you have adequate settlement funds for you and your family in the province
Newfoundland and Labrador Express Entry Skilled Worker Program
The Newfoundland and Labrador Skilled Worker Program allows those that have already qualified on a federal level first, by scoring enough points and meeting requirements, including having enough work experience, to be issued an Express Entry profile and entered into the Express Entry pool. The NLPNP may assess your profile and invite you to apply to one the provincial immigrant programs. If you are found to be a good candidate for permanent residence status in the province, the NLPNP may nominate you to be added to the IRCC pool of candidates, from which federal government selects permanent residents for Canada.
In order to qualify for the Newfoundland and Labrador Skilled Worker Program program, you must:
- score at least 67 out of 100 on the PNP point assessment grid
- have a full-time, permanent offer of employment in a position with prevailing regional wages and benefits, with a Newfoundland and Labrador employer
- have an IRCC issued Work Permit, or be eligible for one, that has at least 6 months left on it before it expires
- have secured a position that will not result in employment disputes or contravene provincial bargaining unit agreements
- ensure that your employer can verify the need for your training and skill set, and that your employer meets the requirements of the program as well
- have a Canadian post-secondary degree or diploma, or certificate or a CIC approved Educational Credential Assessment verifying your education, training, qualifications and skill set measures up to Canadian standards
- prove you plan, and are able to, settle in Newfoundland and Labrador on a permanent basis
- verify that the level of your language skills, in English or French, is adequate enough to perform your job, by submitting and Affidavit stating so from your Newfoundland and Labrador employer, or by providing documents from accredited education and training institutions
- show documentation that proves you have adequate settlement funds for you and your family in the province
